My review of Freeing Jasper by Riley Edwards

Jasper Walker works for a Black Ops secret division and has no problem walking into danger. He avoids relationships at all costs and is known for the women he goes through due to an incident in his past.

Emily Jenkins is a widow and mother to a young boy named Jason. Her husband died overseas and she does her best to raise Jason alone.

When Emily and Jasper first meet they are immediately attracted to each other but Jasper runs the moment he hears she has a child. But 6 months later Emily and Jasper are forced into a situation when Jasper saves Emily at a robbery where someone gets away. Jasper believes that Emily could be in danger and takes it upon himself to protect her.

Will Jasper allow himself to get close to Emily and Jason? Can he protect them both when things go sideways? Will Jasper forgive himself for mistakes he made in the past and allow himself the chance to move on?

I loved this book and was super curious on what went on in Jasper's life to make him so afraid to love. I knew bits and pieces from the first book but I knew there was so much more to come.

Jasper was such a tough soldier yet he had a huge hole in his heart from his past and he couldn't get over it. He was a great teammate and so loyal but avoided attachment at all costs. Yet he felt a protective need over Emily after the robbery and spent hours watching her house and keeping her and Jason safe. Gradually you could see a change in Jasper and I loved how much he wanted to do better.

Emily was such a great character with her own past that she had kept from everyone. I liked the revelation of who Deputy Connor O'Brien of the US Marshall Service was in relation to everyone as it showed everything differently but how protective both Connor and Emily's husband, Steven were over her. Emily was a wonderful mom to Jason and such a great friend to Lily. I loved how she challenged Jasper in a good way but was not about to put up with anything that wasn't right.

I thought the twists and turns in this book were awesome and there were definitely a lot of surprises for me!

This is such a great series and I am hoping we get a book on Levi next!!

5 Stars
