My review of Under The Lights by Tia Louise

Mark Fitzhugh wants to be a police officer but after the suspicious death of his Uncle Rick he finds himself in desperate need of a place to live and somewhere to work. He soon begins working backstage at a Burlesque show where he sees the most beautiful woman he has ever seen before.

Larissa "Lara" Hale is a dancer with the Pussycat Angels and takes care of a girl named Molly whom she will do anything for. Lara will do whatever it takes to keep Molly out of the lifestyle that she is in as she knows the danger Molly is in.

As Mark and Lara begin a friendship and a little more, they both find themselves in danger. Yet Mark will do whatever it takes to keep Lara safe, even if it costs him everything. When a man named Freddie begins to promise Lara a chance to escape to France will she take it for her and Molly?

This was an interesting look at the dangers in the Burlesque Club and the ability to get what you want.

I liked Lara and completely understood why she wanted to protect Molly from the world she had found herself caught up in. She knew the dangers that were around her but had to have the means to escape and she was unsure that Mark was going to be able to provide that for her, no matter how much he cared about her.

Mark cared so much about Lara, which was evident when he saved her, but also knew that she was in a tough situation. He hated working where he was and seeing what was going on "Under the Lights" but knew his best bet for protecting Lara was to stay there.

I was super curious on why Roland did not want Lara trading herself for Molly and hope that is explained more in the next book.

The ending just left you in a scary place of not knowing what was going to happen but I felt a little better with the epilogue and I look forward to seeing how it all ends in the next one.
