My review of The Road to You by Melissa Toppen

Elara Menton is living with so much guilt since her best friend Kamden Thaler died. She blames herself for his death and all of the things they never said while he was alive. She decides that she needs to move home to her dad to get away from the memory of Kam.

Kane Thaler is Kam's older brother and feels like there is something about Elara that makes him feel alive again.

When Kane asks Elara to go to Italy with him she struggles with doing the right thing. Is she wanting to be around Kane as a link to Kam or is there something there between them? Will Elara forgive herself for Kam's death and live the life she wants?

This was a great book on finding love, forgiveness and picking up the pieces to allow yourself to move on.

I knew Elara had so much guilt about Kam's death but the reader doesn't discover why until much later in the novel. My heart broke for her and all the things that remained unsaid between them. I liked how Kane really tried to get Elara to live again, knowing that is what Kam would have wanted.

It was obvious how much Kane loved Elara but he knew that she had to be ready. They went through some very difficult things and I loved how Elara's dad was there for her and helped her through the very difficult time.

I really liked the patience that Kane showed and how he truly gave Elara the time that she needed to heal and find herself in a position that was ready. I loved what she accomplished in her time away and the ending was great!!
