Contessa "Tessa" Holly has just moved to Manhattan from Alabama and is hoping to get a job and then her best friend will follow. She has dreams of working for a publishing company and drops off her resume at Hammond Press where she meets Trevor Spears and then has a coffee disaster.
Barclay Hammond Jr. runs Hammond Press and has no desire for relationships and focuses on his family's companies. When he needs help with an author, Don Black, he asks Tessa to help him out after discovering he is her favorite author.
Soon Barclay realizes that there is more to Tessa than meets the eye but he knows he isn't good for her and their age difference makes him want to stay away. When a conflict arises that threatens both of their futures will they chose love or career?
This was such a great book and I enjoyed it from start to finish!
Tessa was awesome and I loved that she seemed to have such bad luck when Barclay was around when it came to getting coffee spilled on her or having Barclay overhear a private conversation. I loved that she was super smart and had career goals that she worked hard at obtaining.
Barclay was definitely more interesting as he knew what he wanted but he was so torn with actually going after it as he felt he wasn't right for Tessa. He was driven in his career and this was the first time he seemed to be struggling with going after something.
The chemistry between the two was through the roof and I loved that things eventually happened!
I was expecting the bump in the road and I was super curious to see how things were going to play out. My heart was breaking for sure as they both deserved happiness and neither deserved to lose what they worked so hard for.
The end was awesome and I look forward to more from this author!
