Maksim Petrov is a defenseman for the Florida Fury and is also the enforcer for the team. Unfortunately he is taking that role a little too seriously these days and is spending more time in the penalty box than the ice. When the team owner mandates that every player must attend 3 therapy sessions Maksim knows there is no way he is going to open up about his past.
Paisley Pearce knows she's going to be in trouble with Maksim after the two shared a kiss on New Year's Eve. But now the new team therapist must remain professional as she doesn't want anything to jeopardize her career as it is just starting out.
As Maksim and Paisley begin to walk a fine line with their relationship will Maksim finally open up to Paisley about his past? Will Paisley really be able to fully trust Maksim when she learns how much he isn't telling her?
This was such a great book and I was really looking forward to this one!
Maksim was extremely loyal to those who were closest to him and on the ice he did what he could do to protect his teammates, especially when the refs failed to notice things. Yet he also began to play a little more reckless and with less control and that caught the attention of management. Maksim didn't think he needed therapy at all and never opened up to anyone but Aiden about his past.
Paisley was awesome and I loved how she truly battled with how she felt about Maksim. She knew that there was more going on with him than he was telling her but she also could tell that if he pushed too hard she would lose his trust. I loved her friendship with Jana and how Jana pushed her to live outside her comfort zone.
There was so much chemistry between Paisley and Maksim and as much as Maksim pushed for more between them, he was also the one holding back so much information.
I loved the dates that Maksim took Paisley on and I loved how Paisley was initially less than honest about how she felt about them. I laughed so hard and I could definitely get what she was going through!
When a scary incident took place I hated how Maksim pushed Paisley away and the things that were said as Maksim blamed himself. I was proud of Paisley for standing her ground until a conversation with a certain person made her see things differently.
The end was awesome and I can't wait for Ford's book next!
