Renee Miller was living with her boyfriend, Will Black, who was a former Seal and now was an undercover cop. She is a defense attorney but when one night the unspeakable happens Will takes matters into his own hands when all Renee wants is him to be there for her. Now sixteen months later she has moved on but comes face to face with Will when she begins house sitting for her parents.
Will blamed himself for what happened to Renee and realized what he lost and has become a deputy for Abe back in his hometown of River's End. He has never gotten over Renee but also knows how he lost her trust. There's nothing Will won't do to get Renee back.
After Renee arrives there are a series of murders that begin and Will wonders the connection to Renee.
Can Will keep Renee safe and be there for her when she needs him the most?
This is another great book in the series and I love how much the author connects us with the people in her series.
My heart broke for Renee with everything that she went through and I knew why she was so upset with Will as she needed him there with her. I understood why she started over but I really found her career confusing with what she had gone through.
Will made a huge mistake with his actions and lost what he loved most. He had a lot of work to do in order to gain Renee's trust back and I was happy that he was going to prove himself and how much he had changed.
As soon as the murders start you know there is something big coming but with both Will and Renee's jobs you aren't too sure on who is committing the murders and why. The killer was definitely smart and tough and knew what they were doing.
I was happy as things began to look up for Will and Renee as they both really cared about each other and belonged to each other but I was also really hoping that the past would not repeat itself.
When everything began to get revealed I was honestly shocked with the open window. I couldn't believe Will didn't shut it but the revelation was quite surprising.
I hated how Will once again reacted but I was super happy when he quickly realized his mistake and got to Renee in time!
The end was awesome and I can't wait for what is next!
