My review of Prison Princess by CoraLee June and Rebecca Royce

Layne Montgomery has been kept inside a prison for as long as she can remember and she has been told that she was actually born within the walls of Nightmare Penitentiary.

Yet one day she is rescued by Cypress, an assassin, who has been sent by her parents to bring her home. Everything she thought she knew is turned upside down as she discovers that she is actually a Druid Princess, and a very powerful one.

Now Cypress must get Layne home and she must put all of her faith in a hard killer to keep her safe from those who want her back within the walls of Nightmare Penitentiary.

When Layne begins to see another side to Cypress will she risk falling for a man who could destroy her in an instant?

This was a really interesting book and I enjoyed it from start to finish. There was one thing that never got tied up like I would have liked but I will get to that later.

I liked Layne and the stuff she was subjected to in prison was awful and I was happy when Cypress was able to get her out of there. I liked that she was completely shocked about who she was and why she was kept inside the prison. I loved watching her evolve and learn everything that she was capable of.

Cypress was super interesting as he was hard as rock but gradually Layne was able to get into his heart and break his shell. Cypress was also super smart and aware of the evils that were around him and Layne and he was doing everything he could to keep them both safe. Yet Cypress also knew that the two of them are from completely different worlds and that everything will change once she returns home.

It was clear that Cypress and Layne continued to be in a lot of danger on their way back to her home. I was crossing my finhers that Cypress would be able to stay one step ahead of Bhaltair and everyone he sent after them.

I was totally shocked at what happened to Layne when she returned home and everything that happened after. I was so disappointed in her parents but happy that Cypress continued to do what he needed to in order to keep her safe. I loved how Layne was able to use her own smarts to start getting herself out of the next situation she was in.

There was one part here that didn't seem like it was concluded to me with how certain individuals were able to get through the ward and who helped them.

The end was great and I love that Layne's family is going to help her with her powers and that she has Cypress by her side!
