Larry Davison is a firefighter who is struggling with ASD (Acute Stress Disorder) after being caught in a second fire. The first left him badly scarred and with guilt having not saved a little boy who died in the fire. Now he is struggling with giving his wife, Jenna, the baby she wants and he wonders if he can do it anymore.
Jenna Davison wants a house with children and Larry by her side. She knows he has been pulling away lately but she is so busy preparing for a party that coincides with their one year anniversary due to their contract with the reality show they were on.
When things come to a screeching halt will Larry be able to find his place beside Jenna or will he give it all up?
This was a beautiful story about finding peace within yourself, forgiveness and realizing you are not alone.
I have loved Larry right from the beginning of this series and I loved how this book showed the insecurities that Larry was going through and his struggles. I can't imagine how he felt though being so "ganged up" on by the Hart family and having his job hang in the balance due to what was happening with his marriage. I really liked the friendship/relationship that Larry had with Nessa and how once he fired her they were able to have a much more beneficial relationship that healed Larry more than when he was in therapy.
Jenna always had things relatively easy and I was surprised at how much she was truly willing to give up for Larry and their marriage. I was mad at her with Clare though and that she was trying to deceive Larry with the pills.
The end was great with Mrs. Santos and I loved the honesty of working through the relationship and holding on but having to truly fight for it.
I was mad at the Hart family for a bit as nobody seemed to truly understand what Larry was going through with everything that he was feeling and the pain he felt.
Looking forward to more in this series!
