Addison‘s life turned upside down when her fiancé took off minutes before their wedding. His best man Dennis was left as the messenger, and she thought that day would be the last she saw of him, too.

She has to find a new place to live, new friends, a new job and if her best friend has any say, a new man. When Dennis suddenly fits at least two of those categories, he’s not so off-limits anymore.

Dennis' life centers around work, but he's running on fumes. Reluctantly, he agrees to hire an assistant but it's proving to be more hassle than help.

When Addison walks through the doors, he knows he's in trouble. Not only is she overqualified, she's nearly perfect in every way.

He refuses to mix business and pleasure. She needs to live a little. He's come to her rescue more than once and she's the breath of fresh air he's needed for years.

EXCERPT

I knelt down in front of her, intentionally positioning myself lower and between her legs, giving her all the power.
Stunned, she gazed down at me. "Dennis, what are you—"
"Do you want this, Addison? Do you feel something between us?"
Her mouth parted. "I... yes." Her throat dipped as she swallowed. "I don't know how to feel. I haven't... wanted in a really long time."
That was good enough for me. I knew exactly what she meant. When she'd kissed me, it was like being handed a gift. I'd pay whatever the cost for my indiscretions tomorrow. I'd punished and denied myself for long enough.
The vulnerability in her eyes put me on high alert, but also flipped some kind of switch in my brain. I wanted to protect this woman. Even if we weren't meant for anything past this weekend, I could at least do that. I would. I needed to.
My heart cracked when she continued, "I don't think I've been wanted in a really long time either."
"That's not true at all."
Her eyes widened as my words sank in.
Outside, the night had grown dark. The moon shone bright through the window, and the ocean rolled serenely as I swallowed my fears and began to raise her skirt.
The crinkly cotton was light as feathers in my hands as I pushed it all the way up her smooth legs.
Her eyes were large and round, her breath coming more rapidly than before. My own pulse was pounding in response, as much out of nervousness as excitement. It'd been a very long time since I had this much emotion or desire attached to... anything, really. Anything that mattered.
Testing the waters, I moved one of my thumbs in small circles over the skin inside of her knee. Her skin pebbled in gooseflesh, the narrow gap between them widening as she gasped.
Slowly, I let my fingertips explore the muscular planes of her thighs. When I reached the point her skirt couldn't climb any further, I leaned up toward her face, allowing her the chance to push me away if she wanted. I desperately hoped she didn't, but I'd accept her choice either way.
Instead, she surprised me again. Addison captured my mouth with hers hungrily, crushing herself to me, legs locking around my body. I tasted the tang of sake in her mouth as her fingers wrapped around my neck. I finally took my chance to comb her curls with my fingers.
When she pulled away, panting, I knew I was doomed.
