In my daughter's first semester of school she took foods and made hand pies and said that they were really good and wanted to make them again.
I had already found this recipe so I decided that we would do our own version of them at home but use a few shortcuts to save time!
We decided to make cherry and apple pies and used pre-made pie crust. We bought pie filling and were on our way.
I definitely filled the pies with too much filling as they were bursting at the seams but they were so tasty!
One other thing that I initially struggled with was flipping the pies in the oil without wrecking them by cutting into the crust. I managed to cook about half without wrecking them but I found it difficult as I don't think I had enough oil in the pan.
These were still super good and really easy to make. It was nice having a quick dessert as we really don't make too many of them!!
