My review of James by Shayne Ford

Rain Morgan think her life is going pretty good but she constantly has issues with her older sister Daria. One night she goes to Red's and meets a man out in the parking lot who intrigues her but she knows he could break her heart.

James Sexton owns Red's and a lot of other properties in town. He is known as a womanizer along with his best friends, Lex and Ed.

James guards his heart tightly and as Rain begins to break down his walls will he let her in or find a way to break her heart?

This was an interesting book about love and betrayal.

I really liked Rain with all of her innocence at the beginning and then almost a naive sense of what was going to happen with James. Rain truly fell in love with James but couldn't do what she needed to in order to keep him with her. At the same time she had to deal with her evil sister Daria who seemed to have some jealousy when it comes to Rain but it is unclear why.

I definitely had a lot of mixed feelings when it came to James as he had a hardened heart for sure and freally didn't want to let Rain get to close to him. Yet he didn't want to let her go either and it almost became a bit of a cat and mouse game between the two of them. James also had a cruel side that allowed Rain to get hurt even though he warned her that she would never "have" him.

I was super mad at James at the end of the book and I am really looking forward to the next book and seeing what Rain is able to make of herself

4 Stars
