My reviews for Sheltered Love Series

Love Unleashed by Jackie Marilla

Glenda Weber is a volunteer at the Emily Van De Walle Animal Shelter in Cedar Grove, Iowa. She is has always loved pets but her deceased husband never did so she feels guilty with owning any animals so instead she volunteers her time.

Loman Cejka has volunteered his time painting the outside of the shelter and as soon as he sees Glenda he wants to get to know her better. When Glenda is put in charge of organizing the food booth from the 4th of July Celebration Loman immediately volunteers and the two begin to spend more time together.

But both have children and want their kids approval on their relationship. Will Loman's daughter approve or try and sabotage the relationship? Will an emergency be what it takes or will it be too late?

I really enjoyed this book and that it focused on adults who are looking for second chances in love. It's funny how we go from wanting our parents approval to then needing our kids approval before moving on. The book was very realistic with the doubts and concerns we all face when starting over!

Love's Always Paws-Able by Joanne Jaytanie

Tanner Keen has been told to take a step back from his extremely busy life under doctors orders before it's too late. Looking for a change he ends up in Cedar Grove and helps at the Emily VanDeWalle Animal Shelter to see if he can help the shelter out.

Faith Daniels runs a foster home for dogs and has a great relationship with the shelter to help with the dogs.

Tanner and Faith are instantly attracted to each other and begin to get to know each other. Yet, something is going on in Cedar Grove that ends up putting both of their lives in danger. Will the two be able to get through what is ahead of them and see a future between them?

I really like that the core of this book is doing what makes you happy and not worrying about what others think. I think that is so important in today's society where we look at people's jobs as such an indication to where they are in the social ladder of life! There is also some sweet attraction between the two!!

Love Again by Angela Ford

Madison Wilson's husband, Dr.Nick Wilson, has just left her after 35 years of marriage and two kids for a younger version of her. She begins to fall into depression until a friend tells her to volunteer at the animal shelter. As she begin to volunteer she once again begins to find purpose.

Dr.Noah Felton's wife has just left him for a younger man and decides to move to Cedar Grove, Iowa to teach part-time at at local school and decides to volunteer at the local shelter as well after meeting Dr.Dan Livingstone.

Will the two find some common ground over adopting dogs and working together on a project? Will their respective daughters encourage this second chance at love?

I really enjoyed this book and although is was sad that both were left for younger versions they both really wanted a chance at real love again. They both deserved so much happiness and I really loved how realistic it was with Madi suffering from depression after the break-up. It's so important to really take an opportunity for the second chance when you get it!

Champagne and Catnip by Amanda Ward

Dr. Daniel Livingstone is 50 years old and is the head veterinarian at the Emily Van De Walle Animal Shelter in Cedar Grove, Iowa. He has had a secret crush on one of the volunteers, Caryn Fielding for quite some time but has never approached her.

Caryn Fielding has had her share of heartbreak and devastation after contracting Meniere's disease and then losing her husband shortly after. She has always kept to herself and has been referred to as a "cat lady".

When Dan asks Caryn out they discuss their pasts and realize how much they enjoy their time together. Yet Caryn has reservations due to her disability and doesn't want to rely on anyone. Will she learn to lean on Dan or will she push him away in fear of losing him?

This story doesn't focus on past relationships but on the fear of losing someone close to you. Caryn shows us the weaknesses that many of us face in starting over with the chance of losing someone we love again. Her disabilities only burden her as she doesn't want to feel like she is putting extra strain on someone. This is a great book and great series!
