My review of Heartless by Michelle Horst

Della Truman is a waitress who is going to school to get a good job and help support her little sister Jamie. She has no time for relationships but when she finds herself at the end of a bet worth $400 she knows she has to keep her heart strong.

Carter Hayes is a full-fledged member of the "screw-crew" and someone Della does not want to be around, no matter how hot he is. But when Carter saves Della one night she finds herself warming up to him.

Then one night it is over moments after it began.

Now almost 4 years later Carter sees Della again and realizes how much he has missed. Will Della give him another chance to make amends for the past?

This was a great enemies to lovers book with a few twists and turns along the way to keep you gripped in the novel and not want to put it down!

I loved Della and how hard she worked to provide for Jamie yet life had not been kind to the two of them and she had her life turned upside down a few times! Yet she still tried to do her best in spite of every single roadblock that stood in her way.

Carter was not exactly how he seemed at the beginning. He was trying to live up to what his father expected of him yet he was also drawn to Della and extremely protective of her. He had no idea his conversation with Charlotte would hurt Della the way it did.

I was a little mad at Carter when he came back and the actions he wanted to do without involving Della in the initial plans. Yes she agreed but had no real choice - although it was the right one. I loved the small twist that occurred and it was just perfect for the book - loved Daniele and her whole personality!

I loved the man that Carter turned into and how awesome his best friends were with all of the girls! Carter's love for Jamie was so awesome and it made me so happy!!

This was a great book and I look forward to more from this author!

5 Stars
