Jane Mendoza is a nanny for Beau Rochester and his niece Paige. When there is a fire, Jane wonders if someone could possibly be out to hurt her new "family".
As Jane begins to get closer to Beau, their relationship is extremely hot and cold as Beau pulls away as he feels he is no good for Jane.
But as the fire is investigated, more questions arise from the Lead Detective, Joe Causey, and the Fire Chief, Alan Diebold.
This was such a great book and I loved that some of my hunches were coming true!!
I really loved Jane although she was a little naïve and in over her head when it came to Beau. She had real feelings for him but he felt that he wasn't the right guy for her, although he also couldn't stay away from her.
Beau was someone that I definitely had mixed feelings about. He had so much guilt over the death of Paige's parents, but specifically Emily as he had learned some things about what happened to her and he didn't protect her. He had feelings for Jane but felt like he needed to be punished over his actions in the past.
I loved how Jane found a diary which began to reveal some secrets and make me think that I was right about a certain something! Then some other conversations began to lead us to where I thought it could go!
The end was both jaw dropping and not as I kinda thought I knew what was coming but I was absolutely shocked at where everything was revealed.
I can't wait for the next book!!!
