This was a recipe that really intrigued ,me with the title. I think I may have been to Applebee's once but it was only once and a very long time ago. I don't think there are even any in my area. Whenever there is copycat recipes I know that they must be good so I am always willing to give it a try.
Mik and I made this one together and she mainly focused on the pasta and sauce while I made the sauce for the chicken and gathered up all the ingredients for it all. I always love pasta that is made with more than one type of cheese and this looked so good!
For the honey pepper sauce we were missing the lemon and the cayenne but it still tasted awesome. Somehow I keep thinking that I have ordered lemon juice and there has to be one hiding in my house that I haven't found. I found my sauce gradually thickened but I baked the chicken and it didn't have the "ridges" and was relatively flat so I don't think the sauce stuck to the chicken as much as it could have had I used a different type of chicken strip.
The pasta sauce was made as directed except we used Monterey jack cheese instead of Colby. I'm not sure if it's a Canada/US thing for the difference in the two names. The sauce was still awesome. I ended up adding the bacon into the sauce and heating it up a little.
Mik and I loved the dinner and I loved the combo of the macaroni with the sauce from the chicken.
Bren had been out for dinner that night but went he came home he had some and then has proceeded to eat leftovers of it everyday after school as he loves it so much!
This will definitely be a recipe we will be making again!!
