My review of Southern Heat by Natasha Madison

Quinn Barnes is a cousin to Chelsea and when she is being held by her boyfriend Mayson's father, he doesn't hesitate with the rescue. What he doesn't expect is to find a girl beaten and tied and hid underneath a bed barely alive.

Rosemary "Willow" Davis has lived in a version of hell for the past 8 years but since the death of her grandma she has been barely living in once place long enough with her mom. Now she has been rescued but has no idea what it is like to be protected and staying in one place so she is prepared to leave at any time.

As much as Quinn tries to help Willow he knows that she struggles with accepting his gratitude and protection. Can Willow change her need to run and finally find a place to settle down?

This was such a good book dealing with so many emotions. These two really are an incredible couple but both had a long way to go to come to compromise on how to be together.

Quinn was a character we met in previous books and his close friendship with his cousins Amelia, Ethan and Chelsea was extremely important through the books. Yet he was also someone that we didn't know a lot about. He was so protective over Willow the moment he met her and I was actually surprised at how far that went, especially at the hospital. He truly believed that she was a victim of Mayson's dad without any proof, other than her condition when she was found.

Willow had a really rough life after the death of her grandma and it was super sad at how she was abused and treated. She went through horrific things and it was very understandable why she was so skittish and prepared to run.

The chemistry between Willow and Quinn was already there yet at the same time it was slow building due to the circumstances how they met. Quinn was so patient with Willow even though you could tell how much he really cared about her.

One of my favorite things was Willow's bond with Hope. Those two had such a special connection and I loved how much it developed both of them and really gave Willow more confidence and almost a new lease on life.

I also really liked watching the bond grow between Mayson and Willow. Those two had been through similar versions of hell and both had to learn to see the good in people, which they both had difficulties with.

I loved the events after the fair but I knew that the backpack would come to haunt Willow. I was super sad for both Willow and Quinn as I saw things from both sides and I was glad that Mayson was there for Willow to help her understand more.

The end was super awesome and I really hope we get more of these two!!

5 Stars
