My review of The Fuchsia Lakes by Michelle Dare

Elliott Azure is a powerful Knight and also a Prince, son of the King of Azure. He has been asked by his father to go on a secret mission to The Fuchsia Lakes to help protect the Queen from an unknown person who is killing her soldiers and is killing one of her magical lakes.

Queen Karis Fuchsia became queen at 23 when her parents were killed and now at 27 she may be up against her toughest opponent, an unknown person who can get into her kingdom. She has a special "friendship" with Devon, the head of her army but she knows that there is no romantic connection although he is one of the few that she can trust.

Can Elliott find out who is after Karis in time before anyone else gets hurt? When Elliott realizes how he feels about Karis will he follow his heart or his duty?

Wow - this is such a great series and I am loving the magical elements mixed in with everything else to keep the reader hooked from start to finish.

I was really looking forward to Elliott's story as he was quite mad at Addison in the last book for falling for Oliver and I was interested to see where his loyalties would lie in his own story. This one definitely did not disappoint as I felt him going back and forth with what he wanted to do but no matter how much he cared about Karis, he was dedicated to his king.

Karis was such a great character as she was forced into a position that she truly was not ready for with the death of her parents. She had to be careful with who to trust as people were getting killed and she knew she needed help. I can't imagine how she felt not being able to keep everyone in her kingdom safe and knowing that it was someone who had been in her kingdom before.

The chemistry between Karis and Elliott was intense but there came a point where love was just not enough with the differences in their lives. I loved how their lives intersected and they were able to get things from the other.

I definitely wasn't expecting a lot of the twists and turns and I loved the introduction of Vivisi Ash to help Karis with what she was up against with Dark Magic. She will be a very interesting character in the future!

This book was great and I can't wait for more!
