My review of The Exchange Series by M.B. Feeney

This is a review for all four of the books in this series. This is a great series and I really enjoyed it! I loved the different ways the author used the "exchange" between the different characters.

1) Dear Diary

Holly is 17 years old and is headed from her home in the UK to go live in the US for 6 weeks as part of an exchange.

But when she gets there she discovers that the King family has two very handsome sons, one in college, Tyler, and one in grade 12, Aiden, with her. The two boys are extremely different and will she find herself attracted to one or the other?

I really enjoyed this story.

I really liked Holly and everything that she went through as a stranger in a new country and trying to fit in the best she could. She was at such odds within herself for which of the brothers she was attracted to and definitely had a dilemma.

I liked seeing the differences in the two brothers although I can't say much as I really don't want to give any spoilers!!

Great read!

2) Reluctance

Aiden King has a few issues and most seem to be related to his brother, Tyler. When the guidance counselor, Ms.Jones, recommends Aiden writing in a journal after his split with Jessie Evans will he be able to sort out how he feels.

Will Aiden be able to get himself together for what life has in store for him?

I really like this look into Aiden and what it was like being in his brother's shadow. I felt truly bad for him with what he went through with Jessie as the actions blew my mind.

I liked his relationship with Holly and how both were trying to fit in and figure out their respective futures.

I am really enjoying these books and looking forward to what's coming next!

3) Repentance

Tyler King is on vacation in Florida when he meets Anna, who works for an airline company. They spend two weeks together and neither can believe how they have fallen for the other.

When Tyler starts his new job in Arizona they two continue to talk and Tyler realizes he needs to make amends for his past before being ready for his future.

This was a great story about coming to terms with the mistakes of your past and owning up to everything you've done. I really liked how much Tyler grew up in this book and how he knew that he was ready to move forward.

Anna was a great influence on Tyler and I look forward to seeing what happens with the two of them!

4) Dear John

Ellie King is in grade 12 and is starting her senior year. Her English professor has an assignment that involves writing letters to students in Brighton, UK and Ellie is paired up with John Davids.

Soon Ellie finds her friendship with John growing and with Ellie planning on going to school in the UK after she graduates the two continue their friendship.

Will Ellie and John be able to move their friendship into something more when she goes to London or do they discover they are better off as friends?I

This was such a great ending book for this series.

I loved the circle that has Ellie headed back to England where her mother began. I also loved the writing of letters and I wish we did more of that these days as we rely so much on technology.

I liked how John and Ellie really started their friendship with no expectations and the end of the book!

Library Finds - Bleeding Hearts by Alyxandra Harvey

I have always been a huge reader since I was a young girl. One summer when I was in elementary school I actually won an award from the local library for reading 54 books in one summer. It has been an escape for me for so many years.

I was so excited when I got my first Kobo and could get books out electronically from the library and could read so many different books. I would go on goodreads and get recommendations and then find out of they were available on line. But then my library changed their system and I wasn't able to get most of the series I was reading on-line. So frustrated but luckily at that time I began reading and reviewing for many indie authors and kept myself extremely busy with those books.

But lately part of me began missing some of the mainstream authors and I began to take books out at the library again. I have limited myself to only a few out at a time as I am so busy with reviewing but I'm finding happiness picking up these books again.

One series I began in 2014 was The Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey. She is a young adult author of a paranormal series involving vampires. The first one is called My Love Lies Bleeding and I was hooked! I am a huge YA fan and that is one thing that I definitely don't get enough of with indie authors.

The one I just finished was called Bleeding Hearts and it is book 4 in the series. I read book 3 two years ago so it took me a couple of chapters to remember everything and who everyone was but right away the book puts you back in the middle of the action between the Drake family and their enemies.

I like that there is some romance but at the same time the book doesn't have any hardcore sex scenes which makes me happy with a young adult book. The characters in the book all have flaws and trouble fitting in which can show many readers that they are not alone in their struggles.

This is such a great series and as soon as I dropped this one off at the library I picked up the next one as the book ended in a cliff hanger and I know things are about to get crazy and I can't wait!!

I highly recommend this series!!

Chili Nachos

Date night for the boy & I!

So he was wanting nachos but I needed to make sure that he was getting some more protein in him than that so I decided to add some leftover chili and get all that extra fiber and nutrition into him.

I strained the chili a little to try and get some of the juices out of the nachos so it wouldn't get the chips all soggy. I loved actually having the chicken and the corn on the nachos and I think this is such a great idea depending upon the kind of chili that you use. I noticed that Bren picked around the chips that had the big pieces of tomato on it!

Such a great and easy meal!

My review of A Boy From The Streets by Maria Gibbs

Leandro and Carolina have just had twins but fate has dealt them an ugly hand and they are forced to leave their children in the hospital as it is too dangerous for them to keep them. Jose is adopted by an English couple, Fernando and Christina, while Pedro is left in an orphanage and abandoned.

When Fernando and Christina bring Jose back to Brasil 12 years later will they be able to find his twin, Pedro? Will the past be explained and how does the past link up to the present circumstances revolving around everyone?

I enjoyed this book and how everything came together in totally different ways than what you thought was going to happen. There were definitely a few things that I was not expecting and a couple of times I had to go over in my mind the different characters as I was confused with the names.

It was interesting to see the reasons that Jose created in his mind about why they were back in Brasil looking for his twin and it made me sad to see what Jose thought. I really liked both Pedro and Jose and both have had their respective struggles.

I think one thing that shocked me a little was remembering that they were only 12 years old in the book as many times I felt like they were so much older than that with everything that they had gone through and were going through.

The way everything was tied together was so interesting but I really would have liked to know more about the police officer Martinez and what was really behind all of his cruel actions from the beginning of the book to the end. I understood all of the tie ins but why was he this way?

I was definitely mad at Teo at the end for turning on everyone just because he was mad at the past and the ghosts of the past. I saw what was coming and I was surprised that Teo thought better.

The ending was both sad and happy. I was sad for everyone that lost their life through the book but I was happy with the new beginnings that Jose, Pedro and Carlos received!
