Damien Milanovic is on the verge of finding a cure for lung cancer and all of his time is spent on his work. His first marriage ended but he continued to have his daughter, Troian, live with him. Yet as much as he loves Troy, all of his time is spent working.
Lilith Montgomery is 18 years old and best friends with Troy. She has had a crush on Damien for as long as she can remember but she also knows her friendship with Troy would be over if she every found out.
When Lilith scores an internship with Damien is this the chance she has been waiting for? Will her dreams finally come true or will she lose everything?
This was a great quick read from one of my favorite authors!
I liked Lilith but I also understood that she was walking a super fine line with her crush on Damien. I was extremely worried about her willing to risk her relationship with Troy over Damien but she was pretty set on what she wanted. I liked that she was extremely smart and was working hard at her grades and what she wanted to do with her life.
Damien was so focused on his job and I thought his dedication to such an important job was very worthy but at the same time he was losing all of the relationships around him. His marriage fell apart due to his dedication to his job and although Troy loved him so much, he was barely around to spend time with her.
There was a lot of forbidden chemistry between Lilith and Damien and tensions were definitely high. I wondered how far she was going to go with her internship and I was definitely worried about what was going to happen when she was at Troy's house.
Things were definitely hot and cold between the two of them but after a certain event things got hot really fast!!
Yet things also went to freezing just as fast and there was so much back and forth and I really understood why given what was all involved. I must admit that I was frustrated with Lilith for what I felt was using Troy just to get closer to Damien.
At a certain point everything explodes and I was very surprised at how the author dealt with it all as I really didn't expect what all happened. I felt sad at what happened but I know that the author has more in store for us which may mend fences.
The very end was great and I am super excited to see what comes!
