The prequel Throne of Lies needs to be read first.
Remington "Tripp" Montgomery is trying to begin his life over after his father landed in jail and their family tumbled from the wealthy and privileged. He secretly owns RiskTaker with his best friend Lucas to help up and coming businesses with the capital they need for their own companies.
Jolie Chapman has spent the last 10 years modeling after her father committed suicide when his company was accused of defrauding millions. She has reached out to RiskTaker for the capital she needs but little does she know who is involved.
As Jolie begins corresponding with Lance and she opens up a little about her life will Tripp get involved with the woman who had his heart so many years ago? When secrets are revealed will it bring Jolie and Tripp back together or push them further away?
Wow - this was such a good book that I was eagerly waiting for after Throne of Lies!
I thought Tripp was a great character but I was curious to see what his intentions were with Jolie with their past. I knew he was mad at her but I was confused with why until things began to fall into place in this one.
Jolie had her own demons in her past and I understood why she was so upset when she learned the truth about Lucas. She also lost a lot and I was shocked at how much was going on with Romy/Nina that I didn't realize.
I loved when some of the truth came out to both Tripp and Jolie and they realized that they had been pawns as well. I was shocked in a way with everything with Nina but she seemed to go a little crazy so I wasn't surprised. I was blown away by everything Nina did to Jolie though.
The end was super intense and awesome and I am curious to see if there are any more books in this series.
5 Stars
