Faye Tandy works at a Casino as a server and when she is
late for work she gets to work in the quiet bar, Gatsby’s as a punishment. She
also goes to school as she wants to get further in her career. She is a hard
worker and sometimes may have a little trouble not telling things as they are.
Alessio “Alex” Savage has led a life as far away from his
father, Vincent, as possible but when Vincent is murdered Alex is left to pick
up the pieces of his father’s businesses. Alex wants to make sure that his
father’s businesses are clean and not left to the mafia and some of Vincent’s
unique choices in associates.
When Faye and Alex meet, Alex believes that Faye may be the
answer to one of his most pressing needs, a wife. But that decision is likely
to upset Uri Petrenko, who wanted his daughter Katya to marry Alex. Will Faye
agree to help Alex and what will be in it for her? Can Alex legitimize his
father’s businesses before anyone gets hurt?
This was such a great book that had me hooked from the
beginning straight through to the end. There were so many twists and turns that
I couldn’t put the book down!
I loved Faye as she was so much fun and feisty! She had lots
of personality and was struggling to make ends meet but she was working hard to
make something of herself. I loved her first meeting with Alex and how honest
she was with him about her issues at work – like the lack of healthy food. She
was also extremely loyal and knew the role she was in.
Alex was absolutely awesome, and I loved how he was changing
everything up to run the type of company that he wanted, not one associated
with any of the bad stuff that his father was involved in. I liked how he knew
what he had to do to stay away from Petrenko’s family and why he was concerned
about what Uri had planned.
The chemistry between Alex and Faye was hot and intense and
I knew things would get deeper between the two of them, but I was never sure
what would happen and who else would be involved. Loved it!
I loved all the twists with certain characters like FBI
Agent Michael Holt and Katya Petrenko.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series as it will be
great!
